  • Refractive eye surgery

In the realm of vision enhancement, there exists a broad category encompassing surgical interventions aimed at improving or rectifying refractive errors through the permanent alteration of the cornea’s shape.

  • Refractive error

When the cornea of the eye possesses an irregular shape, it leads to a condition where light cannot be adequately focused, resulting in vision that is blurred or unclear. This visual impairment can manifest in various forms such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism.

  • Reflux esophagitis

The irritation and swelling of the lower portion of the esophagus resulting from the regurgitation of stomach contents.

  • Red cell distribution width

An assessment of the diversity in size among red blood cells.

  • Red blood cell indices

Parameters utilized to characterize the dimensions and hemoglobin concentration of red blood cells.

  • Recurrent ulcer

Peptic ulcers that flare up after healing. They may be caused a helicobacter pylori bacterial infection and are treated with a combination of antibiotics and gastric acid-reducing medications, like proton pump inhibitors.

  • Recurrent corneal erosion

Recurrent wearing away of the cornea, potentially caused by insufficient recovery from a prior abrasion.

  • Recurrent abdominal pain

Repetitive abdominal discomfort in children, occurring at least once a month, and not attributable to an underlying medical condition.

  • Recombinant protein

A transformed or altered version of a protein that enables the production of the modified protein in significant quantities.

  • Recessive trait

A hereditary characteristic that manifests visibly only when both gene copies responsible for that trait are present; an individual exhibiting a recessive trait must have acquired one copy of the flawed gene from each parent.
