  • Gestational diabetes mellitus

    Disorder of glucose metabolism that occurs during pregnancy; type III. The manifestation of elevated levels of glucose in the bloodstream during pregnancy, affecting women who did not have diabetes prior to conception.  

  • Germinal centers

    Areas of rapidly dividing lymphocytes within the lymph nodules that respond to infection by forming and releasing lymphocytes for combat. A collection of B cells undergoing proliferation within the follicle of a lymph node or other lymphoid tissue after antigen stimulation.  

  • Germinal cell

    A tissue from which other tissues or cells proliferate.  

  • Gastrorrhaphy

    Suturing or sewing an injured stomach wall.  

  • Ganglionic cyst

    A benign cyst localized on or around a tendon sheath or joint capsule.  

  • Ganglion cyst

    A fluid-filled mass most often observed in the wrist, but may also occur on the ankle.

  • Gait apraxia

    Loss of the ability to consciously sequence and execute the movements required to coordinate walking, resulting in unsteady walking patterns; widely based, jerky gait, and balance difficulties as demonstrated in Parkinson’s disease.  

  • Fungating

    Rapid growth similar to fungus; used to describe some quick-developing tumors. Growing rapidly like a fungus; said of certain tumors.  

  • Full thickness graft

    Surgical transplantation of the epidermis and underlying tissues.
