  • Methyprylon

    Sedative hypnotic used to treat sleep disorders. Adverse effects include dizziness, gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, paradoxical excitement, and the possibility of dependence.  

  • Methyidopa

    Antihypertensive used to treat high blood pressure. Adverse effects include sedation, dry mouth, and liver and blood abnormalities.  

  • Methyl testosterone

    Androgen preparation used to treat testosterone deficiency and female breast cancer and to stimulate growth and weight gain. Adverse effects include edema, masculinization, and jaundice.  

  • Methyl salicylate

    Oil of wintergreen; a liquid used as a counterirritant and pain reliever, applied externally for minor muscle and joint pain. Adverse effects include skin reactions. Also called oil of Wintergreen, the liquid has analgesic and counter-irritant properties. Rubbed into the skin, the oil helps to relieve pain in lumbago, sciatica and ‘rheumatic conditions.  

  • Methyclothiazide

    Diuretic and antihypertensive used to treat high blood pressure. Adverse effects include electrolyte imbalance and hypersensitivity reactions.  

  • Methocarbamol

    Skeletal muscle relaxant used to treat spasms of skeletal muscles. Adverse effects include low blood pressure, dizziness, drowsiness, and nausea.  

  • Methenamine

    Antibacterial contained in many products (e.g., Urotone) used to treat urinary tract infections. Adverse effects include rashes and gastrointestinal distress.  

  • Metharbital

    Anticonvulsant used to treat epilepsy. Adverse effects include ataxia, irritability, and gastric distress.  

  • Meteortropism

    Effects of climate on biological occurrences (e.g., angina, joint pains).  

  • Metencephaion

    Part of the brain, including the pons and the cerebellum.
