  • Environmental epidemiology

The examination of the consequences stemming from exposure to environmental hazards on the well-being of individuals.

  • Enkephalines

Endogenously synthesized peptides possessing analgesic properties within the body.

  • Engraftment

The phenomenon wherein transplanted stem cells undergo replication, giving rise to novel cellular populations.

  • End-stage lung disease

In the advanced phases of pulmonary disease, the lungs reach a state where they are incapable of adequately oxygenating the blood. At this stage, end-stage lungs afflicted with pulmonary fibrosis exhibit expansive air pockets interspersed with regions of inflammation and fibrotic tissue.

  • End-stage heart failure

A grave cardiovascular condition characterized by an insufficient response to both medical and surgical interventions.

  • Endovascular grafting

A method entailing the placement of an administration catheter through an artery in the groin, which is then advanced into the abdominal aorta with the aid of fluoroscopic imaging.

  • Endoscopic ultrasound

A medical procedure in which sound waves are sent to the stomach wall by an ultrasound probe attached to the end of an endoscope. The pattern of echoes generated by the reflected sound waves are translated into an image of the stomach wall by a computer.

  • Endoscopic ultrasongraphy

A diagnostic imaging modality involves the insertion of an ultrasound probe through the patient’s throat to assess the presence of a tumor. This technique allows for a thorough examination by capturing detailed ultrasound images, enabling the medical team to evaluate the potential presence of abnormal tissue growth.
