  • Anticoagulation

    To decrease the capacity of the blood to coagulate (clot). Drugs with this ability are known as anticoagulants.  

  • Alpha receptors

    A primary class of the receptors that are responsive to epinephrine and norepinephrine. Alpha receptors are subclassified into alpha-1 and alpha-2 receptors based on their sensitivity to various drugs.  

  • Adrenocorticosteroids

    The group of steroid hormones produced by the adrenal cortex. These drugs include the glucocorticoids (Cortisol, cortisone), mineralocorticoids (aldosterone), and the sex hormones (androgens, estrogens, and progestins).  

  • Hepato-tonic

    An agent that strengthens and tones the liver.  

  • Euphoric

    An agent that induces a sense of buoyancy and joyfulness.  

  • Yeshiva

    An elementary school for children of the Orthodox Jewish faith; also, an advanced school where Jewish students study the Talmud and rabbinic law in preparation for becoming rabbis.  

  • Wrongful death

    A death caused by the wrongful action of someone else. If a person dies wrongfully, usually only a member of the immediate family such as a parent, child, or spouse has the right to bring a wrongful-death lawsuit against the party responsible. Others, such as unwed fathers and co-parents, often have no such right.  

  • Writing

    The formation of letters, first taught to children in elementary school as printing (manuscript writing), with each letter formed separately, and later as cursive writing, in which letters are joined.
