  • Obligated parent

    The parent who has been ordered by a court to pay child support, such as a noncustodial parent pays to help support the child in the custody of the custodial parent; also called the responsible parent.

  • Nonresident student

    A student whose legal place of residence is not in the district served by a school and who therefore is not necessarily eligible for services or tuition breaks, as opposed to a resident student; at the elementary school or secondary school level, often called an out-of-district student.  

  • Nondextrous

    Unskilled in both hands, as opposed to ambidextrous, or skilled with both hands; often occurring in young children where handedness or lateral dominance is not yet established.  

  • Noncustodial parent

    A parent whose ex-partner has been awarded sole legal custody of a child, as in a divorce case without shared custody. Noncustodial parents normally retain visitation rights.

    Medical notation on a patient’s chart meaning do not resuscitate.  

  • Neuro-otologist

    A medical physician who focuses on the subspecialty of ear and hearing problems involving the acoustic nerve.
