  • Pharyngolaryngeal

    Referring to the pharynx and the larynx.  

  • Pharyngocele

    A cyst which opens off the pharynx. A hernia of part of the pharynx. Swelling or herniation of the pharynx. Hernia through the pharyngeal wall. A bulging of the pharynx through an opening in the muscular wall of the throat.  

  • Pharyngismus

    A spasm which contracts the muscles of the pharynx.  

  • Pharyngectomy

    The surgical removal of part of the pharynx, especially in cases of cancer of the pharynx. Partial excision of the pharynx to remove growths or abscesses.  

  • Pharyngeal pouch

  • Pharmacy act

    In the UK, one of several Acts of Parliament which regulate the making, prescribing and selling of drugs, e.g. the Pharmacy and Poisons Act 1933, the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Poisons Act 1972.  

  • Pharmacologist

    A scientist who specialises in the study of drugs. A person trained in the science of drugs-their properties and reactions, and their therapeutic effects and drug interactions. A pharmacologist need not be licensed, and is not necessarily a pharmacist. An individual who by training and experience is a specialist in pharmacology.  

  • Pharmaceutics

    The science of the preparation and dispensing of prescribed drugs.  

  • Pharmaceutical society

    A professional association for pharmacists.  

  • Pharmaceuticals

    Drugs prescribed as medicines. Any form of medicinal medication. The phrase is also employed in connection with the production and distribution of pharmaceutical substances.
