  • National boards

    The National Boards for Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Visiting, which were formerly responsible for the education of professionals in these fields in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.  

  • Nasosinusitis

    A condition in which the nose and sinuses swell up. Inflammation of the nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses.  

  • Nasopharyngitis

    Inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nasal part of the pharynx.  

  • Nasolacrimal

    Referring to the nose and the tear glands. Relating to the nose and the tear-producing apparatus.  

  • Nasogastrically

    Referring to a method of feeding someone via a tube passed through the nose into the stomach.  

  • Nasogastric

    Referring to the nose and stomach. To the nasal passages and the stomach, especially relating to intubation. A conduit is introduced through the nasal passages, extending all the way to the stomach.  

  • Naseptin

    A trade name for a mixture containing chlorhexidine and neomycin, used to treat nasal infection by organisms such as staphylococci. Naseptin cream is a trade name for a mixture of chlorhexidine (an antiseptic for the skin) and neomycin (an antibiotic medication).
