  • Myotonic dystrophy

    A hereditary disease with muscle stiffness leading to atrophy of the muscles of the face and neck. An inherent genetic anomaly leads to the occurrence of abnormal muscle function.  

  • Myotonic

    To tonic muscular spasm, as differentiated from myokinetic spasm.  

  • Myotomy

    A surgical operation to cut a muscle. Surgical division of a muscle. Surgical division or anatomical dissection of muscles. A surgical technique that entails making an incision into a muscle.

    A drug which causes the pupil of the eye to contract.

    A reflex action in a muscle which contracts after being stretched.

    A form of plastic surgery to repair a muscle. The plastic surgery of muscle, in which part of a muscle is partly detached and used to repair tissue defects or deformities in the vicinity of the muscle.

    Able to see close objects clearly, but not objects which are further away.  

  • Myopathy

    A disease of a muscle, especially one in which the muscle wastes away. Any disease of the muscles not caused by nerve dysfunction; symptoms depend on the specific disease but generally include muscle weakness and wasting.     Inflammation or infection of the myometrium. Inflammation of the uterus walls.
