  • Lacerated wound

    A wound where the skin is torn, as by a rough surface or barbed wire. A wound where the tissues have been ripped apart.  

  • Lacerated

    Torn or with a rough edge.  

  • Labyrinthectomy

    A surgical operation to remove the labyrinth of the inner ear.  

  • Labrum

    A ring of cartilage around the rim of a joint. Labra, lip edge or liplike structure (e.g., labrum glenoidule, cartilage of the glenoid cavity in the shoulder). A lip or liplike structure; occurring, for example, around the margins of the articulating socket (acetabulum) of the hip bone.  

  • Labour pains

    The pains felt at regular intervals by a woman as the muscles of the uterus contract during childbirth. Experiencing distressing muscle contractions in the uterus is a common occurrence during childbirth. These contractions serve to widen the cervix and subsequently guide the baby through the birth canal for the delivery process.  

  • Laboured breathing

    Difficult breathing, which can be due to various causes such as asthma.  

  • Laboratory techniques

    The methods or skills needed to perform experiments in a laboratory.  

  • Laboratory technician

    A person who does practical work in a laboratory and has particular care of equipment.  

  • Laboratory officer

    A qualified person in charge of a laboratory.  

  • Labioplasty

    A surgical operation to repair damaged or deformed lips.
