  • Cuirass respirator

    A type of artificial respirator which surrounds only the chest. A breathing device that connects solely to the chest and alternately compresses and releases it to facilitate breathing.  

  • Cuboidal cell

    A cube-shaped epithelial cell.  

  • Cuboid

    One of the tarsal bones in the foot. One of the seven bones of the ankle.  

  • Cubital fossa

    A depression in the front of the elbow joint.  

  • Crypts of Lieberktuhn

    Tubular glands found in the mucous membrane of the small and large intestine, especially those between the bases of the villi in the small intestine.  

  • Cryptomenorrhoea

    The retention of menstrual flow, usually caused by an obstruction.  

  • Cryptococcus

    One of several single-celled yeasts which exist in the soil and can cause disease. A genus of unicellular yeast-like fungi that cause disease in man.   • Cryoprobe

    An instrument used in cryosurgery with a tip that is kept very cold to destroy tissue. A device for applying cold to a tissue. Liquid nitrogen is the coolant frequently used.  

  • Cryoprecipitate

    A precipitate such as from blood plasma, which separates out on freezing and thawing. A precipitate produced by freezing and thawing under controlled conditions. An example of a cryoprecipitate is the residue obtained from fresh frozen blood plasma that has been thawed at 4°C. This residue is extremely rich in a clotting factor. Factor VIII…

  • Cryobank

    A place where biological material such as semen and body tissue can be stored at extremely low temperatures. A facility that stores and preserves refrigerated or frozen biological specimens.
