  • Cerebral ischaemia

    Failure in the blood supply to the brain.  

  • Cerebral haemorrhage

    Bleeding inside the brain from a cerebral artery. Intracerebral hemorrhage refers to the occurrence of bleeding inside the brain as a result of a ruptured blood vessel.  

  • Cerebral dominance

    The usual condition where the centres for various functions are located in one cerebral hemisphere. A kind of dominance of one part of the brain over another.   • Cerebral decompression

    The removal of part of the skull to relieve pressure on the brain.  

  • Cerebral cavity

    One of the four connected fluid-filled spaces in the brain.  

  • Cerebral artery

    One of the main arteries which take blood into the brain.  

  • Cerebellar syndrome

    A disease affecting the cerebellum, the symptoms of which are lack of muscle coordination, spasms in the eyeball and impaired speech. A cluster of symptoms attributed to specific types of brain disorders manifests as tremors, speech impairments, abnormal eye movements (nystagmus), and disturbances in gait.  

  • Cerebellar peduncle

    A band of nerve tissue connecting parts of the cerebellum.  

  • Cerebellar gait

    A way of walking where a person staggers along, caused by a disease of the cerebellum. A walking stance where the legs are spread widely to compensate for disruption of balance and the tendency to fall. An ataxic gait resulting, e.g., from a cerebellar stroke or tumor.  

  • Cerebellar cortex

    The outer covering of grey matter which covers the cerebellum. The surface layer of the cerebellum consisting of three layers: the outer or molecular, the middle, and the inner or granular. Purkinje cells are present in the middle layer.
