  • Ordinal variable

    In epidemiology, a variable having values that can be meaningfully ordered or ranked.  

  • Ordinal scale

    A scale in which responses are ranked ordered by relative magnitude but in which the intervals between successive ranks are not necessarily equal, categorical scale; interval scale; ratio scale.

  • Oral stage

    In Freudian psychology, the first of four psychosexual stages in which sexual pleasure is derived through stimulation of the lips and mouth and extends from birth to age two anal stage; genital stage; latency period.  

  • Oral sex

    Fellatio or cunnilingus. Sexual stimulation of the genitals by a sex partner’s mouth and tongue. Cunnilingus is oral stimulation of the female genitals; fellatio is oral stimulation of the penis. Certain sexually transmitted diseases (such as chlamydia, herpes simplex, genital warts, syphilis, gonorrhea, and HIV) can be transmitted through oral sex.

    That specialty of dentistry that is concerned with the treatment of diseases of the mouth.    

  • Oral gratification

    Satisfaction or need fulfillment obtained through the use of the mouth or by placing something in the mouth.  

  • Oral fixation

    In Freudian psychology, gratification or stimulation of the mouth enhancing emotional security.  

  • Oral eroticism

    Oral gratification. Sexual pleasure derived from use of the mouth.
