  • Noncontinuity theory

    The theory that learning occurs in an all or none way.  

  • Nonconscious ideologies

    Beliefs and attitudes about which a person has acquired such uniform messages in socialization that the person is not aware that he or she holds such beliefs and attitudes because no alternative is available.

  • Noncommunicable disease

    A disease that cannot be transmitted from one person to another. An infectious disease such as tetanus or botulism that cannot be transmitted from one person to another.  

  • Noncancelable

    A health insurance policy that states that the insured has the right to continue in force the policy by payment of the designated premiums and that the insurance company cannot alter the provisions unilaterally.  

  • Nonassertive

    Giving up one’s basic rights so others may achieve theirs, assertion; aggression.  

  • Nomothetic

    The characteristics possessed by individuals that make them similar.  

  • Nomogram

    A series of graphs that interpolate human data and predict degree of body fat, metabolic rate, and desirable caloric intake.   • Nominal variable

    In epidemiology, the data from variables that name things; they do not measure or quantify amounts.  

  • Nomadism

    A defense mechanism. Having a constantly migratory lifestyle, as is practiced by some animals and humans.
