    A tension appropriate for preparing the body for maximum functioning. A type of stress that results in positive change or growth. Eustress refers to happy or pleasant events under which health and performance improve even as stress increases.

    A castrated male or one who is similar in appearance to a eunuch. Having the characteristics of a eunuch, such as retarded development of sex organs, absence of beard and bodily hair, high-pitched voice, and striking lack of muscular development.

    Parts of chromosomes that are genetically active and have characteristic staining properties, heterochromatin. Chromosome material that stains most deeply during mitosis and represents the major genes. Unfolded or uncondensed portions of chromosomes during interphase.
