  • Drug-use indicators

    The specific area on or within a particular neuron with which a drug must interact or attach itself before any change in cell function occurs.     The amount of drug that must be taken to produce the desired effect. The smaller the amount needed, the more potent the drug.  

  • Drug misuse

    Unintentional or inappropriate use of prescribed or OTC drugs resulting in impaired physical, mental, emotional, or social well-being of the user. Using a drug in an incorrect manner.  

  • Drug lag

    The charge that drug testing procedures required by the government regulations result in a delay in the introduction of new prescription drugs for marketing and use in the United States.  

  • Drug habituation

    A psychological dependence on the effects of a drug without a withdrawal syndrome upon denial. Generally used synonymously with drug dependence, sometimes used to mean psychic drug dependence, often wrongly assumed to be synonymous with drug abuse, and very irregular in meaning.  

  • Drug families

    The major categories or types of drugs that share important characteristics in terms of chemical composition or actions within the body.  

  • Drug disposition tolerance

    The state in which enzyme systems in the fiver increases their capacity to metabolize a drug, so the body disposes of the drug faster.
