Rating of perceived exertion
A subjective impression of over all physical effort, strain, and fatigue during acute exercise.

An estimate of the myocardial oxygen consumption, calculated as the product of heart rate (HR) and systolic blood pressure (SBP).

The rapid increase in both systolic pressure and diastolic pressure during static exercise.

Adaptations that occur in the vasculature or muscles that increase the ability to extract oxygen. The process of engulfing and digesting an antigen.

Plan for training based on a manipulation of the fitness components with the intent of peaking the athlete for the competitive season or varying health-related fitness training in cycles of harder or easier training.

Pulmonary circulation, especially capillary blood flow.

Percent saturation of hemoglobin (SbO2%)
The ratio of the amount of hemoglobin combined with oxygen to the total hemoglobin capacity for combining with oxygen, expressed as a percentage; indicated generally as SbO2% or specifically as SaO2% for arterial blood or as SvO2% for venous blood.

Peak power (PP)
The maximum power (force times distance divided by time) exerted during very short-duration (5 sec or less) work.

Partial pressure of a gas (PG)
The pressure exerted by an individual gas in a mixture; determined by multiplying the fraction of the gas by the total barometric pressure.
