(Of a taxon) of mixed evolutionary origin, sharing more than one common ancestor. Describing a number of individuals, species, etc., that have evolved from more than one ancestral group. Having more than one origin; opposite of monophyletic.

(Of flowers) with the petals free from each other. When the petals are separate or distinct (whether few or many). Opposed to Monopetalous.

(Of a taxon or organ) with several forms, variable. Occurring in several or many forms; appearing in different forms at different stages of development.

(Of a 3-dimensional structure) with many faces or sides; polyhedral is the more common spelling.

With many styles. Many-pistilled or-styled.

2-dimensional shape with many corners.

With male, female and bisexual flowers on the same plant. Having perfect and separate flowers upon the same plant.

Bearing some bisexual flowers, but mainly with either male or female flowers.
