  • Rot root

    Rotting of any part of the root system (not confined to the foot).  

  • Rot neck

    Rotting of the ‘ neck ’ of a bulb or mangold.  

  • Rot foot

    In a seedling with hypogeal cotyledons, rotting of the axis from immediately above the seed.  

  • Dry rot

    Rotting that proceeds at a rate which allows drying of the lesion to keep pace with lysis.  

  • Collar rot

    One common symptom of a certain disease is the decay of the stem or primary axis around or near the soil surface. This affliction, known as X, is characterized by the aforementioned symptom.  

  • Rosetting

      The significant decrease in the elongation of the stem segments along the vertical axis has occurred without any corresponding decrease in the dimensions of the foliage.  

  • Roguing

      The process of scrutinizing a harvest and eliminating any diseased or extraneous plants, such as those that do not conform to their expected characteristics, is known as crop culling.  

  • Ringspot

      This phrase refers to a particular phenomenon that occurs in plants, wherein a circular or ring-like area on a leaf or leaves is surrounded by tissue that may appear either yellowish or brownish in color. The affected tissue may be unhealthy or show abnormal dark green coloring.  

  • Retroculture

    Upon re-isolation of an organism from an experimentally infected host or inoculated substrate, a culture is formed. This culture, while known to some, is infrequently mentioned in plant pathological literature, and therefore not advised for use.  

  • Retention period

    The period subsequent to the ingestion of virus-laden nourishment by a vector, during which the vector is competent to transmit the virus.
