Any procedure that renders a tooth fixed or nonmobile. In periodontics, it refers to splinting of teeth.  

Replacement dental prosthesis placed immediately following the removal of a natural tooth or teeth.  

A clinical protocol for the placement and application of force on dental implants, with a fixed or removable restoration in occlusal contact with the opposing dentition, at the same clinical visit.  

A clinical protocol for the placement of a dental implant(s) in a partially edentulous arch, with a fixed or removable restoration not in occlusal contact with the opposing dentition, at the same clinical visit.  

Implant prosthesis is seated at the time of implant placement but kept out of direct occlusal contact. Loading occurs from lip and tongue pressure and contact with food, but not from contact with the opposing teeth.  

Leaving the position described as centric relation, the nonworking‐side condyle moves straight and medially, which is considered the translatory portion of lateral movement.  

Application of functional or nonfunctional load to an implant at the time of surgical placement or shortly thereafter, i.e., generally considered to be loading within 48 hours of implant placement.
