  • Zygomaticus minor muscles

    Muscles on both sides of the face that extend from the zygomatic bone to the upper lips. These muscles pull the upper lip backward, upward, and outward, as when you are smiling.  

  • Zygomaticus major muscles

    Muscles on both sides of the face that extend from the zygomatic bone to the angle of the mouth. These muscles pull the mouth upward and backward, as when you are laughing or smiling.  

  • Zygomatic nerve

    Affects the muscles of the upper part of the cheek.  

  • Written agreements

    Documents that govern the opening of a salon, including leases, vendor contracts, employee contracts, and more; all of which detail, usually for legal purposes, who does what and what is given in return.  

  • Wringing

    Vigorous movement in which the hands, placed a little distance apart on both sides of the client’s arm or leg, working downward apply a twisting motion against the bones in the opposite direction.  

  • Wrap resin accelerator

    Acts as the dryer that speeds up the hardening process of the wrap resin or adhesive overlay.  

  • Work ethic

    Taking pride in your work and committing yourself to consistently doing a good job for your clients, employer, and salon team.  

  • Wooden pusher

    A wooden stick used to remove cuticle tissue from the nail plate (by gently pushing), to clean under the free edge of the nail, or to apply products.  

  • Weight line

    Visual line in the haircut, where the ends of the hair hang together.  

  • Weaving

    Interweaving a weft or faux hair with natural hair, coloring technique in which selected strands are picked up from a narrow section of hair with a zigzag motion of the comb, and lightener or color is applied only to these strands.
