  • Sural nerve

    Supplies impulses to the skin on the outer side and back of the foot and leg.  

  • Supratrochlear nerve

    Affects the skin between the eyes and upper side of the nose.  

  • Supraorbital nerve

    Affects the skin of the forehead, scalp, eyebrow, and upper eyelid.  

  • Superior labial artery

    Supplies blood to the upper lip and region of the nose.  

  • Superficial peroneal nerve

    Extends down the leg, just under the skin, supplying impulses to the muscles and the skin of the leg, as well as to the skin and toes on the top of the foot, where it becomes the dorsal nerve, also known as the dorsal cutaneous nerve.  

  • Sugaring

    Temporary hair removal method that involves the use of a thick, sugar-based paste.  

  • Subsections

    Smaller sections within a larger section of hair, used to maintain control of the hair while cutting.  

  • Stress strip

    Strip of fabric cut to 0.3 cm (1/8″) in length and applied to the weak point of the nail during the Four-Week Fabric Wrap Maintenance to repair or strengthen a weak point in a nail enhancement.  

  • Stress area

    Where the natural nail grows beyond the finger and becomes the free edge.  

  • Strand test

    Determines how the hair will react to the color formula and how long the formula should be left on the hair. Deepest, live layer of the epidermis that produces new epidermal skin cells and is responsible or growth.
