  • Viropexis

    The fixation of a virus particle to a cell. This leads to the inclusion of the virus inside the cell.  

  • Viripotent

    Sexually mature, as applied to a man.  

  • Virile reflex

    The sudden downward movement of a completely relaxed penis when the prepuce or glans is pulled upward.  

  • Viral set point

    The balance in a viral infection between the number of viruses in the blood (the “viral load”) and the response by the immune system to initial infection. It may be one of the predictors of disease progression in illnesses such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.  

  • Viral interference

    The inhibition of the multiplication of one type of virus by the presence of another virus in the same cell.  

  • VIPoma

    A rare form of neuroendocrine tumor that causes watery diarrhea, hypokalemia, and achlorhydria as a result of the release of vasoactive intestinal peptide.

    The scientific name for a family of venomous snakes that includes the European viper, gaboon viper, puff adder, Russel viper, and saw-scaled viper.  

  • Viper

    Any venomous snake of the family Viperidae.  

  • Viosterol

    A solution of irradiated ergosterol in vegetable oil.  

  • Directed at self risk for violence

    Behavior in which a person demonstrates that he can be physically, emotionally, or sexually harmful to himself.
