Pathological

Indicative of or caused by a morbid condition.


Pertaining to pathology (= branch of medicine that treats the essential nature of the disease, especially the structural and functional changes in tissues and organs of the body caused by the disease).


Referring to a disease, or caused by a disease.


Relating to or arising from disease. For example, a pathological fracture is one associated with disease of the bone.


Abnormal. When the body structure or function is not normal, it may be called “pathological.” When function or structure is normal, it is called “physiological.”
