Pesticides are toxic chemicals designed to eliminate pests. They come in various forms such as herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides. Ingesting these chemicals, especially by children, can lead to pesticide poisoning, as seen in cases like chlorate poisoning. Agricultural workers might be poisoned by inhaling these substances or absorbing them through the skin. Indirect exposure can also happen when consuming food that retains residues from crop spraying.
