Pethidine

A synthetically produced narcotic drug, used to reduce pain and as a sedative.

A potent analgesic drug with mild sedative action, used to relieve moderate or severe pain. It is administered by mouth or injection; side-effects may include nausea, dizziness, and dry mouth, and dependence may occur with prolonged use.

Pethidine is a man-made opioid painkiller that’s similar to morphine but not as strong. It’s typically administered before medical procedures or to alleviate intense pain post-surgery and during childbirth. When taking Pethidine, nausea and vomiting can occur, so it’s often paired with a medication that prevents these side effects. Because of its potential for addiction, it’s not recommended for long-term pain management.
