An unpleasant tingling sensation, usually occurring after a temporarily restricted blood supply returns to an arm or leg (informal).
A form of paraesthesia, or disturbed sensation, such as may occur, for example, in neuritis or polyneuritis.
A sensation of tingling or pricking in a particular area of the skin, often accompanied by numbness and occasionally a sensation of burning. The medical terminology for this experience is paraesthesia. Brief episodes of pins-and-needles result from a temporary disruption in the transmission of nerve signals from the skin to the brain. If the sensation lingers, it could be attributed to a nerve disorder known as neuropathy.
