Pitting

The formation of hollows in the skin.


The formation of depressed scars, as occurs on the skin following smallpox or acne. Pitting edema is swelling of the tissues due to excess fluid in which fingertip pressure leaves temporary indentations in the skin.


The formation of pits, depressions, or scars, as in smallpox.


The development of small depressions, as observed in skin edema, where applying pressure with a finger results in the formation of tiny indentations.
