Polygenic (trait, product, etc.)

A trait or end product (e.g., in a grain-produced crop) that requires simultaneous expression of more than one gene. For example, the level of protein produced in soybeans is controlled by five genes.

Inheritance of an attribute whose expression is controlled by many genes or pairs.

A trait that is expressed as a result of the action of many genes whose individual effects are not apparent.

Polygenic refers to a trait or disorder that is influenced by the combined effects of multiple genes. Many human characteristics, such as height, weight, and overall body structure, are considered polygenic in nature. Similarly, conditions like schizophrenia and late-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD) are categorized as polygenic disorders.
