Porphyromonas gingivalis

A gram‐negative, nonmotile, rod‐shaped anaerobic bacterium from the phylum Bacteroidetes. Commonly found in subgingival dental plaque, it is an etiologic agent in the development of chronic periodontal disease. A member of the red complex bacteria.
