Prickle cell

A cell with many processes connecting it to other cells, found in the inner layer of the epidermis.


Cells with cytoplasmic processes that form intercellular bridges. The germinative layer of the epidermis is sometimes called the prickle cell layer.


A cell possessing spinelike protoplasmic processes that connect with similar processes of adjoining cells. These are found in the stratum spinosum of the keratinized epithelium of the epidermis.
