An autosomal recessive disease that affects bones and resembles osteopetrosis, but the disease is mild and not associated with hematological or neurological abnormalities. Affected children have short stature, open fontanels, frontal bossing, hypoplastic facial bones, blue sclerae, and dental abnormalities. There may be double rows of malformed teeth. Despite the multiple abnormalities, life span is unaffected. The patient usually seeks medical care because of frequent fractures. The only treatment is surgical correction of deformities and fractures.
