One of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Salsalate (Disalcid, Salflex) is a pain-relieving, fever-reducing, anti-inflammatory medication in the same category as aspirin. It is used to relieve pain, to reduce fever, and to ease some symptoms of arthritis, including joint pain, swelling, and stiffness.
