School health services

That part of the comprehensive school health provided by physicians, nurse, dentists, health educators, allied health personnel, social workers, and teachers to appraise, protect, and promote the health of learners and school personnel. The services are designed to ensure access to and the appropriate use to primary care services to prevent and control communicable diseases, to provide emergency care for injury and other sudden illness, to promote optimum sanitary conditions in a safe environment, and to provide concurrent learning opportunities that are conducive to the maintenance and promotion of individual and community health.


A special service, part of the local health authority, which looks after the health of children in school.
