Sensitometer

A calibrated instrument with an optical step wedge and light source that puts a graduated set of densities on a radiographic film; used in quality control monitoring for film processors.

The fundamental function of this system is to generate consistent exposures on both surfaces of medical X-ray film, enabling the measurement and analysis of the processing system’s performance. Sensitometry is specifically devised to ascertain the speed, gamma, and fog level of any standard X-ray film or cine film when utilized in conjunction with an appropriate densitometer.
