Having a wide base of attachment; lacking a stem; not pedunculated.


(Micro)organisms that are attached to a (support) substrate directly by their base; not attached via an intervening peduncle (i.e., stalk). Can also refer to fruit or leaves that are attached directly to the main stem or branch of a plant.


Having leaves or flowers that are directly attached by their base (in other words, lacking a petiole) to the stem.


Said of organs that have no individual stem.


(Of fruit body) Stemless, attached directly to the substrate.


Directly attached to the base without a stalk.


Having no stalk, as the flowers of most camellias for example.


Referring to something, especially a tumour, which has no stem.

Describing tumors that are connected not by a stalk but by a wide base. (Tumors affixed by a stalk are termed penile, pedicled, or pedunculated.)
