Sinus bradycardia

A normal but slow heart rhythm.

An unusually slow heartbeat brought on by normal causes, such as deep relaxation or excellent fitness, or by abnormalities of the conduction systems, such as sick sinus syndrome. Sinus bradycardia requires no treatment unless it causes symptoms.

A slow sinus rhythm with an atrial rate below 60 beats per minute in an adult or 70 beats per minute in a child.

A slow yet steady heart rate of fewer than 60 beats per minute characterizes sinus bradycardia, which is caused by diminished electrical impulses from the sinoatrial node. While this condition is often normal in athletes and physically fit individuals, it could indicate underlying issues like hypothyroidism, a heart attack, or the use of medications like beta-blockers or digoxin in others.
