Step-down transformer

A transformer that changes electricity to a lower voltage.

A step-down transformer operates by reducing the voltage output compared to the input voltage, effectively stepping down the electrical potential. During this voltage reduction process, there is a proportional increase in amperage, as dictated by the principle of power conservation, where the input power equals the output power. In the context of the X-ray circuit, the filament transformer serves as a step-down transformer, fulfilling the role of voltage reduction.
