Sympathy

A feeling or capacity for sharing in the interests or concerns of another. May arise when there is no emotional attachment to the person toward whom one is sympathetic because the feelings of the sympathetic person remain essentially internal. Contrast with empathy.


The feeling or expression of pity or sorrow for the pain or distress of somebody else.


The relationship between people which causes one of them to provoke a similar condition to their own in the other one. For example, when the first person yawns, the second feels an urge to yawn too.


The influence produced on any part of the body by disease or change in another part.


A reciprocal influence exercised by different parts of the body on one another.


An association or feeling of closeness between individuals such that something that affects one affects the other.


The interconnected relationship between two somewhat distant parts, where a change in one influences the other.
