Ubiquinone

A lipid-soluble benzoquinone which is involved in electron transport in mitochondrial preparations. The compound occurs in the majority of aerobic organisms, from bacteria to higher plants and animals.

Coenzyme in the respiratory (electron transport) chain in mitochondria, also known as coenzyme Q or mitoquinone.

Coenzyme Q, an electron carrier that is part of the respiratory chain in the mitochondria.

A coenzyme that acts as an electron transfer agent in the mitochondria of cells.

Coenzyme Q, a lipid-soluble quinone present in virtually all cells. It collects reducing equivalents during intracellular respiration and is converted to its reduced form, ubiquinol, while involved in this process. This substance is widely used in Europe and Asia as a health food supplement for congestive heart failure and other disorders, although confirmation of its effectiveness is uncertain.
