Ultraviolet

A wavelength of electromagnetic radiation that is shorter than the violet end of the visible spectrum but longer than that of X‐rays. Normally, it refers to wavelengths <380 nm.

Wavelength of radiation that is shorter than visible light and often used for sterilization of some products.

That portion of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths between about 4×10⁻⁶ m up to 10⁻⁸ m (100-4000 Å). Equivalently, an ultraviolet photon has an energy between 5 and 500 eV.

Beyond the visible spectrum at its violet end, said of rays between the violet rays and x-rays.
