Unconscious

Experience which was once conscious, but was subsequently rejected, as the “personal unconscious”.

That part of memory and mental functioning that is rarely subject to awareness. It is a repository for data that have never been conscious (primary repression) or that may have been conscious and are later repressed (secondary repression).

Unaware; lacking the ability to respond. A person who is unconscious does not respond when spoken to, touched, or stimulated in other ways. Any unconscious person who does not regain consciousness quickly requires emergency medical treatment.

state of unconsciousness or a description of mental activities of which an individual is unaware. The term is also used in psychoanalysis to characterize that section of a persons mind in which memories and motives reside. They are normally inaccessible, protected by inbuilt mental resistance. This contrasts with the subconscious, where a person’s memories and motives while temporarily suppressed can usually be recalled.

A distinct region within the mind where notions, recollections, observations, or emotions that an individual is presently unaware of are stored and processed. The contents of the unconscious mind are less readily accessible compared to those of the subconscious mind.

Unconscious or in a comatose state.
