The tube that carries urine from the kidney to the bladder. It originates in the pelvis of the kidney and terminates in the posterior base of the bladder. Each kidney has one ureter measuring from 28 to 34 cm long, the right being slightly shorter than the left. The diameter varies from 1 mm to 1 cm. The wall consists of three layers: the mucosal, muscular, and fibrous layers.
