Vibration

Rapid and continuous movement.

In massage, the rapid shaking of the body part while the balls of the fingertips are pressed firmly on the point of application.

The purpose of employing vibration is to aid in the fragmentation of lung secretions. Vibration can be accomplished through mechanical means or manual intervention. In the case of manual vibration, the individual administering it places their hands against the patient’s chest and generates vibrations by swiftly contracting and relaxing the muscles of the arms and shoulders while the patient exhales. This procedure is repeated multiple times throughout the day, typically during approximately five exhalations.
