Vibrotactile aid

Any instrument that uses vibrations as a sensory substitute for sound. Vibrotactile aids are used by some deaf people to enhance speech recognition, specifically the intensity, pitch, duration, or patterns of spoken words.


Acting as a substitute; pert, to assumption of the function of one organ by another.


Facilitated by live televised images; used for certain surgical techniques.
