Weal

A small area of skin which swells because of a sharp blow or an insect bite.

Weals, or wheals: raised white areas of oedema in the skin with reddened margins, which may result from sharp blows, or, accompanied by itching, may be a symptom of urtiaria.

A raised skin bump, appearing lighter in color compared to the surrounding tissue and sometimes encircled by red inflammation, is a common feature of urticaria, which is also known as hives.
