A condition in which someone does not see objects clearly.A lack of sharpness when viewing an object, resulting in unclear visual details. Blurred vision can have a number of causes, including farsightedness, nearsightedness, astigmatism (distortion caused by asymmetry in the eyeball), cataract (clouding of the lens of the eye, usually caused by aging), deterioration of the light-sensitive (because of macular degeneration oi diabetic retinopathy, for example), glaucoma (a disease that results in damage to the optic nerve), infection in or injury to the eye, extreme fatigue, exposure to the elements (such as snow blindness], and drugs and medications (such as alcohol and antihistamines). Blurred vision that persists should be evaluated professionally. Treatment depends on cause. Refraction problems such as farsightedness and nearsightedness can be treated with glasses or contact lenses. Surgery may be necessary for cataracts, certain kinds of retina problems, or injury. Glaucoma can be treated with medication, laser surgery, and traditional surgery. If drug is the cause of blurring, abstaining or changing to a different medication may resolve the vision problem; talking to the doctor about a change in medication is the first step.
</oembed>
