An abscess of a bone, caused by staphylococcal osteomyelitis [Described 1832. After Sir Benjamin Collins Brodie (1783-1862), British surgeon.]Form of osteomyelitis, with chronic abscess at the head of a bone. Treatment is by antibiotics and excision and drainage of the abscesses.An abscess of bone: a form of chronic bacterial osteomyelitis, not due to tuberculosis or syphilis. Treatment is by surgical drainage and antibiotics.A persistent bone abscess that typically occurs in young adults with osteomyelitis, often found in the top part of the tibia.
