Fo¬ cuses on the attainment of three principles: (a) growing and developing, (b) decision making, and (c) interaction. Learning experiences are directed toward each individual developing health concepts which can be applied to improved daily living. This approach to health education was popularized as a result of the School Health Education Study (SHES) conducted in 1961 and published in 1963. The study was done under the direction of Dr. Elena M. Sliepcevich.
