A powerful and potentially harmful chemical compound found in some herbicides.An extremely poisonous gas.Ingredient in an herbicide used to control plant growth and causally linked to many cancers. Dioxin was a primary ingredient in Agent Orange, which was used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. It is no longer available in the United States.A toxic, cancer causing chemical. Initial exposure to this agent can produce chloracne, liver injury, and peripheral neuropathy. It has been used as a herbicide (e.g., during the Vietnam War, when it was called “agent orange”) and is an unwanted pollutant released by some industrial and agricultural processes. Dioxin-like compounds are also released by the degradation of some other organic molecules.
</oembed>
